Racial inequality is still a current issue in in the United States today. Oppression of people of different ethnicity, to the unequal rights of men and women. In class we watched a video where the white family and a black family took on opposite roles. They used makeup to change their skin color, and try to get a different perspective from another race. However, some of the family members found a difference and could experience racism that goes on today, whereas others just felt racism is sought out and found, and is not prevalent in society. I found that so interesting that they tried to put themselves in another person's shoes. The clip that I posted is from the show 30 Rock. Two of the characters are having a conflict and the man believes that because he is black life is harder for him, and the woman thinks that life is harder for her because she is female. They decide to do a "social experiment" and switch roles. Although the show in itself is somewhat racist, it is a comedic view of racial stereotypes that are very prevalent in our society today.
-You do not have to watch the whole episode. You can fast forward to 13:10 to 14:24, and you can see the response to their experiment.
