The recession has been over for almost a year now and it is still affecting people all over the country. The article said that 1 in 7 people were at the poverty level and that 6 million more people this year were using food stamps than last year. I found that surprising. In class we discussed how class is relatively stable, but it is obvious that in a time of economic trouble that that isn't always the case. It makes it that much more important to build up a savings account now and to use the money we have wisely now so that when hard times come that it won't be as hard or as life changing as it could be.
ReplyDeleteAre we going beyond the fact that economists say this will probably be a double dipped recession? Meaning that we'll head back into a recession soon enough. I don't know much about the reliability of the statistics here, but the economy for the lower class has always been a problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure that we'll be able to find a solution for it either. If it were even possible, it would take years and years to create a social care system that would aid in taking care of the less fortunate.
