Although I am glad to hear that Utah is proposing a small solution to the country's illegal immigration issue, I would have to agree with Tony Yapias and say that the proposal is unrealistic. Ideally, implementing guest worker programs or the suggested work permit would give us an accurate count of illegal immigrants in the country or certain areas. However, I think the immigrants would abuse the privilege. It is idealistic that Utah will control the flow of illegal immigrants into the state if they are giving them a "pass" to live and work here.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is not realistic, but at least they are trying to address some illegal immigrant issues. I actually think that this Bill gives undocumented immigrants incentive to get a permit because otherwise with misdemeanors. It is the start of a policy that could be successful. At least with this Bill, we will know how many undocumented workers there are and are trying to address some of the issues
ReplyDeleteI think it is great the Utah is trying to find solutions for illegal immigrants who come to Utah to stay. It will give them an opportunity to work legally so that they do not have to struggle while living here. Having the permit cost $500 may not be realistic because immigrants may not have that kind of money when first entering the U.S. until they find a job which they should not have until they have a permit.
ReplyDeleteI think it is still a great solution but may need some changes, but overall it is a solution to start with and have some way to deal with the problem.
